Telstra is making a significant investment in its Managed Radio business by upgrading the national Fleetcoms trunked radio network. This network provides fleet radio communications services to both government and commercial customers around the country.

This upgrade will provide two major benefits to our customers:

  • improved quality of service and reliability
  • an extension of the support period for Fleetcoms to beyond June 2012 for customers requiring a longer term support commitment

The Fleetcoms upgrade will bring this network into line with the Victorian StateNet Mobile Radio (SMR) trunked radio network that supports both government and commercial customers across 96%* of Victoria. The SMR network was upgraded in 2006. Fleetcoms and SMR will now operate on the same Tait technology platform, which will also bring operational benefits to the Managed Radio team.

Fleetcoms / SMR customers and Dealers will be informed of the upgrade and of Telstra’s ability to support these services beyond June 2012, which had been previously communicated as a possible end date.

Fleecoms and SMR customers will now be able to confidently plan and invest in their radio communication requirements with Telstra with peace of mind.

Telstra’s investment in the only truly national commercial trunked radio network will continue to provide significant benefits to local and national businesses alike that require instant push-to-talk fleet communications.
